Edge 5G – The First Razer Console With Which You Can Play Anywhere

The company has shown new devices during the celebration of its Razer Con event, held this Saturday afternoon.

The ‘gaming’ brand Razer has taken advantage of its RazerCon event, held on the afternoon of this Saturday, to present its first portable console: the Razer Edge 5G, developed with the American telecom company Verizon and dimensions typical of a mobile phone, of 6.8 inches.

“With the Razer Edge 5G, we’ve created the ultimate portable gaming platform together with Verizon and Qualcomm, capable of taking existing game catalogs and taking them anywhere with near-zero latency,” said Richard Hashim, Division Head.

The device, which, in principle, will not leave the United States, where it will arrive next January, is powered by the latest Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 chip running with Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband. According to the brand, it also shines due to its FHD+ AMOLED screen with a more than reasonable 144 Hz image refresh rate on the screen.

As with other systems developed by the competition, the ‘gadget’ is designed so the user can continue with their games at any time, whether travelling or away from home.

Razer claims that from launch day, the machine will feature thousands of ambitious games compatible with the device, whether native Android titles or cloud gaming services from brands like Xbox Game Pass and Nvidia GeForce Now. It will also feature remote gaming options that offer full access to libraries like Steam Link, Moonlight, and Parsec.

Headphones for everyone

Razer, in turn, has shown during the event its new Razer Kaira X, wired headphones designed for PlayStation 5, as well as the new Kaira HyperSpeed and Kaira Pro HyperSpeed, multiplatform wireless gaming headphones that, according to the brand, “They offer immersion and freedom without ties”, the prices range between 240 euros and 70 depending on the model.

These are joined by the new Hammerhead HyperSpeed, some multiplatform ‘earbuds’ – there are models for Xbox and others for PlayStation – with active sound cancellation technology. They are priced at 180 euros and will be available this coming November.

Without leaving the headphones part, Razer spent some time commenting on the benefits of its new Kraken Kitty V2 Pro, which has Razer Chroma RGB lighting technology and interchangeable kitten, bear and rabbit ears. The device shines, in addition to its sound, according to the brand, for its comfort and the isolation it provides.

Razer has long been known for, among other things, its Razer Chroma RGB lighting, which allows users to customize, control, and sync their lighting settings across multiple devices. To simplify the task, the company has announced the launch of Razer Axon, an ‘app’ for PC with which it is possible to control the entire system.

New peripherals

The brand has also taken advantage of the event to announce the growth of its Quartz line, which is being expanded with the new Razer Barracuda multiplatform wireless headphones and the Razer Huntsman V2 TKL keyboard (189.99 euros each). It will also include peripherals such as the Razer BlackShark V2 X headset designed for esports (69.99 euros), the Razer Orochi V2 wireless gaming mouse (84.99) and the Razer Strider hybrid mouse pad in size L (39.99). All the ‘gadgets’ will arrive in October.

The ‘gamers’, in addition, will have more options from November, when the launch will take place, to choose between the new products in the Mercury Edition and White Edition lines; among them, two keyboard models, a mouse and the Razer Barracuda Mercury Edition headphones.
